Virginia Musician, Ben DeLaurentis, has taken the time to explore possibilities beyond his known and has released his first solo album, ‘Liar For A Muse’. Having a variety of experiences under his belt including being the founder of Rock Band, Steal The Prize, Ben has now set out on a promising new road that is full of heart and soul. Here’s our track-by-track thoughts.
Kicking off with the first track, “As Good As It Gets”, Ben eases listeners into a state of tranquility akin to an opening of a Jack Johnson release as he lyrically speaks of the simple things in life that are often overlooked. The second track, “Fill In The Blanks”, is a lyrical metaphorical jewel that highlights the missing puzzles pieces of a relationship while Ben recognizes the beauty of imperfection. “One Woman Man” is the third track that begins with a smooth piano opening that leads into a lyrical portrayal of the old-fashioned style that Ben approaches love with and expects in the connections that he shares moving forward. The fourth and title track, “Liar For A Muse”, showcases Ben’s vocal capabilities as he lyrically speaks of the discontent that he feels when the one that he loves smothers him and doesn’t give him the space that he needs to reboot himself.
“Whatever Side Of Me” is the fifth track that picks up the pace as Ben lyrically tackles the battle that comes with accepting another individual’s flaws and the importance of doing so when being a key part of one another’s life. The sixth track, “Mine All Mine”, is a romantically rich release of the love that has been building in Ben’s bones as he lyrically reaffirms his devotion to one of his soulmates. “Should Be Easy” is the seventh track that is an album highlight that lyrically speaks of the feeling of fluidity that comes when lovers release of manic thoughts and allow themselves to simply enjoy one another. The eighth track, “Not A Doubt”, is the perfect lyrical ode to the certainty that Ben instantly felt when he stumbled upon his lover in this ever-changing experience of life. Closing out with “Half Hearted Love”, Ben openly lyrically expresses his shortcomings and holds himself accountable for knowing that he has to overcome his own woes to be able to fully share himself with another.
‘Liar For A Muse’ is the perfect album to kick back and listen to when you desire to kick the blues. Grab your tickets to catch Ben DeLaurentis on tour this Fall throughout the USA.
