Friday’s lineup is pure mayhem. Period. Kicking off with the day with band who has worked diligently to maintain their identity since 1996, Drowning Pool, and coasting into one of the leaders within the crossover of metal/hardcore, Hatebreed, how in the world can this festival sprouting from scratch go wrong? The afternoon also includes performances from Trivium, Hollywood Undead, In This Moment (Can you say Maria Brink?!), The Devil Wears Prada, Meshuggah, Of Mice & Men and Chevelle. And to put the cherry on top, or for crying out loud, the entire jar of delicious maraschino cherries, the German Metal god’s of Rammstein’s only U.S. performance of 2016 is closing the day. Pinch me.
Saturday’s lineup brings a full range of talented guitarists with tremendous skill and an eclectic range of propulsive drumming at breakneck speed kicking off with the American metalcore band signed to Red Bull Records, Beartooth, and diving deep into insanity with a band that is bound to rile up a massive circle pit, Miss May I. The Michigan bred rock band that has been lighting fires in the minds of listeners since 2001, Pop Evil, will be there to wake you up from your midday nap along with Carcass, Deafheaven, Helmet, Gorija, Alter Bridge and Breaking Benjamin.
The return of the original guitarist, Brian “Head” Welch, to KoRn’s tribe in 2013 still brings nostalgic feels pertaining to the days of rushing home from school to catch the slow-motion bullet in the 1998 music video for “Freak on a Leash” on TRL. And after taking a few years off, the Chicago-based metal band who recently released their sixth album, Disturbed, are ready to light up their hometown and close the evening with a bang.
After two hangovers in a row, put on your faded black t-shirt and get ready for Sunday’s lineup which kicks off with Gemini Syndrome, who introduced themselves to the rock world against a sea of endless criticism. The day vibes and dives into performances by We Came As Romans, Letlive, All That Remains, Corrosion of Conformity, Asking Alexandria, Babymetal, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine.
The eternally tainted freak of nature, Marilyn Manson, who is known for shamelessly burning crosses on stage is on the list and ready to turn ashes into mud; no worries, we’ll all be burning in hell for this.
Five Finger Death Punch is a highlight Sunday act that’ll be taking the stage prior to a masterful spectacle from the festival’s closer, Slipknot, who has put a stamp on the world of rock and roll with their legendary persona built from the ground up with surrealistic self-made costumes and masks. Get ready, stand steady. Lace up your boots and tap into your inner animal; prepare yourself for three days of non-stop rock and roll madness.
