The gentleman who has spent majority of his life in New Zealand although born and raised in England, former LA Ink tattoo artist, Dan Smith, has opened his own studio, Captured Tattoo, in Old Town Tustin in Orange County, California. The walls are lined with gifts from colleagues and an old-fashioned photo booth which was gifted to Mr. Smith by LA Ink star, Kat Von D. As a tattoo artist, Dan has traveled all over the world including the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Holland, Hungary and now the United States of America. Dan loves tattooing with a deep passion due to the fact that it remains the one constant thing in his life.
Dan Smith – “Tattooing has been my backbone. It has got me through the hard times and has delivered some of the best.”
Dan perceives that it is important to be competent with all styles of tattooing but western traditional, lettering and music tattoos are what considers his specialties.
Dan first began tattooing at Sacred in Auckland which influenced his style while absorbing all of the aspects of culture that he considers a very unique education. Whether you are covered in tats or prefer to remain ink-free, there is no denying that tattoo’s are a potent form of art.
Dan has been inking human beings in Southern California for over a decade and is known to passionately dedicate his time toward further honing his craft. To see more of Dan’s work, visit www.capturedtattoo.com.
