Watch SullenTV’s Artist Spotlight with Olver Peck:
Oliver Peck, a Texas native, was featured as the special guest at the ninth stop of the Rockstar Inked Up World Tour in El Paso. You may recognize Peck as a judge from the hit Spike TV series “Ink Master”, but there is much more to the witty, mustached tattooer than meets the eye. His tattoo shop, Elm Street Tattoo, has been open for 17 fruitful years, in Dallas, TX is only half of his operation. He opened True Tattoo in Hollywood, CA, because of his affinity for the storied history of Los Angeles tattooing. For over 20 years now, Peck has been perfecting his precise and award winning execution of American traditional tattoos, all while traveling all over the globe.
Peck has quite the resume; one of his most peculiar accomplishments was tattooing 415 “13” tattoos in a 24 hour period in 2008, landing him in the Guinness Book of World Records. This September, Friday the 13th, Peck is planning his own tattoo/music mini festival, partnering with Reverend Horton Heat.
If you’re sensing a theme here, then you’d be correct. This year will mark the 20th year that Peck will be tattooing the number 13, for 13 dollars, every single Friday the 13th. Since 2001, Peck has been running the “13” marathon for a full 24 hour period. For those counting at home, this will be the 13th year Peck has been tattooing the number 13 for 24 hours straight, and the 20th year that he has been tattooing the number 13 on every Friday the 13th; say that five times fast.
Aside from tattooing, Oliver Peck has been skateboarding and riding motorcycles for about as long. You’ll never see Peck without a toothpick in his mouth, or a smile on his face; it’s refreshing to see somebody who enjoys his life that much.
