Casey Breana Osburn and I go way back. I believe I was about 19 years old when I first met her at City Market in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. We were both beginning our first shift for a local event staffing company and had the pleasure of standing at bag check for a parking lot Incubus show. We had everything in common from late September birthdays to a love for body art, but the first thing we agreed on was music.

Casey and I seemed to be on similar paths in terms of our education and career choices, and we always managed to stay interconnected through the local rock scene and various music publications. I began to genuinely admire her work and perseverance and hoped to one day be following in her foot steps of tour management, radio broadcasting, and becoming a managing editor for an esteemed alternative music site.

Ultimately, Casey has led an admirable life within the music industry, having worked with respected artists such as Tim Kasher of Cursive, Big D and the Kids Table, and Beautiful Bodies among many others. She currently works for the popular Kansas City lifestyle newspaper known as The Pitch and wears a generous arrangement of pop culture inspired tattoos from badass artists. Casey and I recently ran into each other at the Bonner Springs, Kansas stop of the 2016 Vans Warped Tour. Her affiliation with the growing body jewelry and lifestyle company known as Plug Your Holes inspired me to capture some of her personal ink and bring light to her independently earned success for the rest of the world, especially young women, to see.
