Portland Songstress, Heidi Osborne, dove beyond herself throughout one of her journeys overseas which has served to derive the inspiration behind her latest EP, ‘Nomad’. Through her eye and mind opening journey to Cape Town in South Africa, Heidi Osborne explores both herself and the common privileges that we as human beings tend to overlook in a candid and gripping way. Here’s our track-by-track thoughts.
Kicking off with the first track, “A2Z (Rise and Grind)”, Heidi begins with a mellow Indie instrumental feel that leads into lyrics that speak of the realization of the many years and moments of life ahead that she has yet to encounter and how slowing down to tune into the beauty that is around and within us in this moment serves to creates a brighter life experience. The second track, “My Muse (Comfortable)”, is a magical lyrical journey that speaks of Heidi’s recognition that an individual that she shares her life with has created ease into her bones and aided in the current state of bliss that she is feeling within. “Oh Honey” is the third track that is a compelling lyrical representation of a heart that is finding difficulties in coming to terms with the disconnection that has developed between two human beings that ultimately do love each other yet are simply experiencing two seperate seasons of life. The fourth track, “Human Race”, is a metaphorical tale that takes listeners down the rabbit hole of Heidi’s mind as she comes into a place in which she believes that we as human beings are meant to share our lives with each other and learn through our experiences together. Closing out with “So Lucky”, Heidi is embodied and full of light over easy instrumentals that compliment the lyrical tale that speaks of all of the privileges that are readily available to individuals in the states along with her gratitude for the love and support that she receives from her loved ones.
‘Nomad’ is a mature release that speaks of the unraveling of Heidi Osborne’s highest self. If you’re a fan of fellow talented musicians such as Natasha Bedingfield, Skylar Grey and Sara Bareilles, then keep an eye on the ride ahead for Heidi Osborne on Soundcloud.
