Louisiana-based nu-metal band SevVven unleashes their new single/music video, “Awakened,” via Wake Up! Music Rocks.
SevVven comprises Josh Valdivieso (vocals), Ant Jones (guitar), Jessie Hoda (guitar), Tanner Istre (bass), and Katt Lee (drums). Founded by Valdivieso and Jones as a duo, SevVven dropped their self-titled album in 2020.
They immediately began writing new material while simultaneously assembling a full band for live performances and a bigger sound.
SevVven’s 2021 single, “Falling,” hit Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Indicator charts, slotting in at #18, followed by “All I Need Is You,” which landed at #23 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock. In 2022, SevVven dropped “Woe Is Me,” featuring Myles Clayborne, followed by performing at the Louder Than Life Festival.
Rolling out on eerie chiming suffusions, “Awakened” ramps up on a potent snare, ushering in heavy guitars, loosing thick, dark energy. The harmonics descend to a gleaming first verse and then add resonance and depth prior to elevating to the chorus, dripping with clotted guitars pushing out dense layers of sonic weight.
Lee’s superb drumming not only sustains the rhythmic pulse of the song but also injects another instrument, enlarging the tune with texture and color.
Valdivieso’s vocals, at once haunting and powerfully evocative, imbue the lyrics with profound passion, rising to rasping wails of urgency.
“I’m feeling higher and higher / Until I fall / I’m feeling lighter and lighter / Until I fall / Until I fall.”
Drenched in haze and black shadows, the video stages sensations of pensive melancholy, shrouded in mysterious auras.
Damn! This is a great track. With “Awakened,” SevVven pumps out congealed washes of nu-metal laced with a frisson of rumbling elegance.
