Richmond, Virginia-based alt-rock quintet Wine & Warpaint unveils their single, “I Don’t Mind,” a track lifted from their upcoming debut long player, Disassociate, an album revealing the musical breadth of the band.
Wine & Warpaint’s sound navigates an interior world decimated by loss, deconstruction, and depression while maintaining a paradoxical commitment to hope and optimism. Their signature blend of big hooks, punk edge, and wall-of-sound energy led to them being recognized as winners of the Player Plus Studio Sessions: Powered by Fender, where they were selected by a celebrity panel of music legends and executives as one of the 26 best-unsigned bands in the world.
The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Brandon O’Neill, who is joined live by Taylor Bess, Colleen Christman, Hunter Glotz, and Hannah Haupt, Wine & Warpaint’s music is simultaneously innovative and captivatingly familiar.
“I Don’t Mind” rolls out on gleaming guitars, providing a delicious swaying motion. Luminous, sparkling accents infuse the melody with iridescent burrs atop a tight, evocative rhythm. High tenor vocals with a sweet rasping edge give the lyrics wistful surfaces.
A shimmering, dreamy bridge shifts the harmonic feel to softer textures and then ramps back up to a thicker outro, highlighted by layered, radiant harmonies.
Wine & Warpaint delivers vibrant, melodic compositions with intimate authenticity in a musical landscape populated by melody-averse artists.
