Teen country singer-songwriter Madelyn Rose unveils her brand-new single, “Sober, a track lifted from her forthcoming debut EP, slated to drop on July 7 via Vere Music.
Madelyn explains, “‘Sober’ is a song about the difficulty we often find in trying to stay away from someone who’s not good for us, and the delicate balance we strike in trying to figure out how to miss them while still taking the space to heal.”
Co-written by Madelyn and Deanna Walker, “Sober” was recorded in Nashville with producers David Spielberg and J.W. Robb.
“Sober’s” release follows on the heels of Madelyn’s debut single, “Taillights Fade,” followed by “Won’t Be Me” and “Heart Space,” all of which appeared in 2023. “Won’t Be Me” amassed more than 25,000 streams in the first two weeks.
Along with recent appearances on WSMV TV’s Today in Nashville and Voice of America’s Border Crossings, Madelyn was featured on The Just Talkin’ with Sam Podcast.
At the age of four, Madelyn began playing music, followed by developing and polishing her songwriting craft and teaching herself the complexities of recording, mixing, and mastering in her bedroom. In 2022, Madelyn signed with Nashville’s Vere Music, the label founded by Hootie & The Blowfish’s manager, Rusty Harmon.
Now, only sixteen years old, Rose continues to find a resonance between her lived experiences as a teenager in small-town America — young love, heartbreak, new driver’s licenses — and the empowering, anthemic vibes of classic country greats like her all-time idol Carrie Underwood.
“Sober” opens on dark, smoldering tones topped by Madelyn’s deliciously evocative voice, dripping with aching nuances. As the harmonics elevate, the rhythm takes on thick essence, giving the tune shadowy resonance, providing a matrix for Madelyn’s mounting vocals, revealing intense passion and portentous timbres.
Drenched in dusky harmonics layers, riding a lusciously spectral rhythm, “Sober” establishes Madelyn Rose as a country music tour de force.
