Throughout each individual’s lifetime, we all gather inspiration and pieces of our unique puzzle that carry the ability to serve in the long run. Although the latest single by Mark Peters, “24 Years”, was brought to life 15 years ago, it fits the tone of his life at this moment and lyrically reminds listeners of the fading and ephemeral nature of time. Having recently released the new music video for “24 Hours” from his ‘Spirits’ EP, Mark Peters is taking steps forward as both a musician and human being which is in turn leading him toward lacing pieces of his heart into his artistry. We dissected the EP release and recommend to check out the new music video on YouTube below.
Kicking off with the first track, “Memories”, there is a mellow essence within Mark’s peculiar instrumental fusion of enthusiasm and romance that adds to the soft and vulnerable lyrical trajectory that takes listeners down the sweet road of love. The second track, “Move Me”, slows it down into an acoustic spill of homemade lyrical passion that soothes an aching soul and takes listeners through a multitude of emotive ebbs and flows. “You go Low” is the third track that is a lyrically soul-stirring and soft punch into the gut pertaining to Mark’s personal experience that went weary, yet speaks of the integrity that he continues to carry within the situation as he refuses to stoop that low. “Chinese Torture” is the fifth track that incorporates the piano and metaphorically lyrically speaks of the pain that Mark is encountering as the metaphoric punch speaks of the process of torture that was once a part of the 15th and 16th century that led individuals toward insanity. Closing out with the title track, “Spirits”, the EP ends with the old soul coming outward over a musical piece that showcases the variability within Mark’s musical lexicon.
