Contemporary R&B Musician, Taylor James, cannot be placed into a box. Kicking off with the first track, “Back 2 U”, Taylor James’ mature and cultivated vocals creep into the core of listeners as he lyrically takes us into his experience of reaching a place in which he is entirely sure that he is ready to share his entire life with the woman that has energized his heart. “Say It’s Me” is the second track that begins by mimicking the likes of Boyz II Men as Taylor James’ R&B style is full of the energy of the early 90’s over lyrics that highlight his devotion toward the love of his life. The third and title track, “Insane”, channels Taylor’s electric energy as he creates the feeling of songs created by Prince over lyrics that are full of the passion that has been developed through his ever-evolving love for his soulmate.
“Good News” is the fourth track that begins with a progressive speech that swiftly shifts into a delivery of raw soul where Taylor gradually comes to terms with his ability to create the life that he desires to live and how the love of his life has stuck along his side through this discovery. The fifth track, “Let’s Go Steppin”, is an album highlight that takes listeners through the romantic lenses that Taylor leads his life through as he lyrically shares his experience of stepping out into the world to let go and simply enjoy a night of fun and flow. “Rock (Throw Back Mix)” is the sixth track that begins with a bold woman declaring her impassioned love as Taylor lyrically creates a metaphorical tale that speaks of his love always being as solid as a rock. The seventh track, “Make It Right”, is full of sultry bliss as Taylor’s R&B roots shine bright as he reaches a state of lyrical vulnerability that is captivating and rich in purity. “This Time” is the eighth track that is a reflective lyrical journey through the past year of sharing love with a beautiful human being that has served to create a richer life experience for Taylor. Closing out with “How It’s Supposed To Be”, elements of Motown are brought back into the modern-day in a fluid way by Taylor James.
