Get ready and prepare yourself because melodic rap/nu-pop duo ET Boys introduces their brand-new single/lyric video, “Tonight,” co-produced by the ET Boys and the highly sought-after Ken Lewis, who just won a Grammy for his work on Taylor Swift’s album.
The prodigies that make up the ET Boys are two Latino brothers, Sharkeyes and Tacboy, who were born in Chicago and are now based in South Florida. The brothers grew up immersed in music, everything from Flamenco to rock. Later, they discovered they had a unique musical chemistry: Sharkeyes created tracks to which Tacboy wrote lyrics and vocal melodies.
Signed with Pepper Gomez’s label, Wake Up! Music, the twosome released their debut single/music video, “Sober,” a song that immediately put the ET Boys on the map. Since then, the ET Boys have gone from strength to strength, amassing millions of streams and topping the DRT Charts and the charts at UnTapped Show/KAZI 88.7FM The Voice of Austin.
“Tonight” rolls out on refluxing synths backed by graceful strings, flowing into a thumping, pulsating rhythm blending hints of pop, hip-hop, and dreamy R&B, with muted suggestions of industrial flavors.
The fluctuating depth of the rhythm provides a potent contrast to Tacboy’s seductive, at times sighing, vocals, giving the song the slick glossiness of oil poured over water. Tacboy uses his voice like a magic wand, shifting from dreamy textures to more urgent surfaces and then to delicate, chiming breathiness. This changing of timbres and ambiance imbues the lyrics with a chameleon-like milieu at once alluring and oh-so haunting.
“Tonight / Tonight / I’ve been waiting for this / For every waking moment / Weave this empty husk I / Have seemed to take my form in / Straight away down there to / A place I feel important.”
Channeling an array of stylistic auras, “Tonight,” the ET Boys’ first release of 2024, dives headlong into their wickedly beguiling charisma.
