Alternative Metal Band, Afterlife, are one of Stay Sick Recordings latest bands to take the label to the next level with an authentic and dark touch that inspirits listeners to dive deep into their true core. Afterlife has recently dished out a music video for “Pain and Pleasure” that haunts viewers in the most delightful manner and leaves fans of the sinister mood eager for more. I caught up with vocalist, Tyler Levenson, to discuss what’s in store for Afterlife in 2017, the creative process behind ‘Vicious Cycle’, being a part of Stay Sick Recordings and more.

First and foremost, introduce yourself to our readers. Who is Afterlife?
We are an alternative metal band based out of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Congrats on the release of your debut EP, ‘Vicious Cycle’. Tell us about the creative and recording process behind this album.
We really wanted to create an album with absolutely no ceilings; we all come from different backgrounds of music and we wanted to incorporate as much as we could into the songwriting. Our producer (Zach Jones) really understood what we were going for and flawlessly brought out ideas to life.
Let’s talk tattoos. Tell us about some of your favorite personal pieces and the artists that brought them to life.
Funny enough — only one member of our band actually has tattoos. But personally I, love realism and traditional tattoos and plan on getting some in the future.

Any upcoming tour or festival appearance plans that you can fill us in about?!
We can’t really say too much, but what we can say is expect Afterlife to be touring heavily in 2017.
Tell us about your experience being a part of the Stay Sick Recordings family so far.
It’s been a really awesome experience so far! It’s a good feeling being a part of a team who genuinely cares about their artists and pushes them to the utmost potential.
Your music video for “Pain and Pleasure” has a dark theme that it intriguing throughout. Tell us about the conception for the video and what brought that theme to life.
We wanted the visual aspect of the video to really strike the viewer and we use a lot of metaphors throughout. The chains [I’m wearing in the video] were very real and caused me a lot of actual pain throughout the filming. So there is authentic pain in my face in the shots.
What do fans of Afterlife have to look forward to in 2017?
Relentless touring and possibly a full-length album.
If you could tour the world for six months with any musician/band either dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
We would absolutely choose Slipknot and/or Linkin Park. They are two of our absolute favorite artists and their live shows are untouchable.
If you had to recommend two restaurants to travelers visiting West Palm Beach for the first time, which restaurants would you choose and why?
Sure! I would recommend the Tapas Bar because the food is out of this world and the atmosphere is angelic. I would also recommend Taco’s Al Carbon… because who doesn’t love good tacos?
Last but certainly not least, any closing messages for your fans?
It’s okay to feel other emotions other than happiness — we’re all human.
