Blue-haired bombshell, Diamante, has been rocking throughout the states with her band and taking their influence to new heights. Through the success of many singles and the recent release of ‘Coming In Hot’, Diamante is a bundle of confidence, loving light and good ol’ fashion Rock that can’t be stopped. I caught up with the sassy and radiant California Rocker to discuss the release of ‘Coming In Hot’, a touching story of rescuing a dog while on tour, the current three-song soundtrack of her life and more.
Congrats on the success of ‘Coming In Hot’. Tell us about your experience the creative and recording process this time around.
Thank you so much! The writing process was interesting for me because rather than writing with band members, I went into a different studio every day for 18 months and wrote with completely new songwriters and producers. It took some trial and error in the beginning to really find the right people and hone in on the sound I wanted, but it really started coming together afterwards.
Did you face any challenges in the studio that in hindsight served as learning lesson that you can take with you into the future?
Definitely. Writing every single day for eight hours a day can be mentally taxing. I found the days when I did not put so much pressure on myself were the days I was able to write more fluidly. Also because I wrote with so many different people, I had to really ground myself in who I was and what I wanted musically so those I worked with could understand my vision.
You are currently rocking it on tour throughout the states with Bad Wolves. What is the craziest tour story so far that you can share?
Yes it has been incredible! On the second day of the tour on our way to the venue, I witnessed a woman throw a dog out of her car on the freeway and drive off. Without hesitation, I had us pull over to rescue the dog from getting hit. I brought him with us to the venue and he hung out all day while we tried to find a place for him to go. Apparently, he had been stolen from a Walgreens parking lot, and through the power of social media, we were able to find the original owner!
f you could sit down with either yourself as a child or yourself as a wizened adult, which would you choose?
Definitely as a child just so I could give myself reassurance that everything was going to be ok, also because seeing myself as a wizened adult would be a spoiler!
Give us the three-track soundtrack to your life right now.
Pat Benatar – “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”
AC/DC- “Highway to Hell”
Toto – “Africa”
Last but certainly not least, any closing messages for your fans?!
Thank you guys so much for all the love and support, and I hope to see you out on the road soon!
