Founded in 2006 on the ashes of FURYFEST, the HELLFEST festival is the brainchild of Benjamin Barbaud & Yoann Le Neve. Now in its 13th year, and still hosted in the little town of Clisson (Nantes – 44) HELLFEST has quickly become one of the leaders in Europe for extreme music concerts. Every year, more than 160 bands perform on HELLFEST’s 6 stages, each with its own particular style: MAIN STAGE 1 & MAIN STAGE 2 ( hard rock / thrash ) – TEMPLE STAGE ( doom / pagan metal / black metal ) – ALTAR STAGE ( death metal / grind ) – VALLEY STAGE ( sludge / stoner ) – WARZONE STAGE ( punk / HxC ).
Over this past decade, many of Heavy Metal’s iconic bands have rocked the site: RAMMSTEIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, BLACK SABBATH, SLAYER, MOTORHEAD, MOTLEY CRUE, MANOWAR, SCORPIONS, KISS, ALICE COOPER, ZZ TOP, MARILYN MANSON, DEEP PURPLE, MEGADETH, KORN, SLIPKNOT, GUN’S N ROSES, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, JUDAS PRIEST, DEFTONES, TWISTED SISTER, EUROPE, EMPEROR, TURBONEGRO, NOFX, BODY COUNT, STATUS QUO etc. By bringing together Metal giants, rising stars and exciting new discoveries from the underground scene, HELLFEST has won the public’s confidence by offering up, every year, an original line-up ever more eclectic in the world of extreme music.
Welcoming more than 150,000 concertgoers over 3 days, HELLFEST has become known, year after year, for its continually updated installations to offer the best conditions for fans, and equally for enveloping the crowd with weird and wonderful sets and decor – think sculptures, stage decor, design of stands, the skate park, the big wheel… The scenography has been meticulously conceived and remains unequaled: the immense stage lighting, pyrotechnics, special shows and performances, the ambiance during the day as well as the evening, and of course, the fireworks. The festival also owes its success to the artists and set designers who, over the years, have greatly participated in creating the festival’s unique universe.
The HELLFEST experience continues well beyond the six music stages. The site features a remarkable infrastructure and provides many services to cater for the varied needs and desires of the festival-goers over the weekend: Extreme Market, Metal Corner, Hell City Square & Hell Gate, Dark Forest, Merchandising, Hellfest Cult (fan club), VIP area, Warm-up & Afterparty, DJ set, Book/album signing, ProZone, Panoramic platform, Bars, Eateries, Shuttles buses, Tattoo Salon, Sponsors’ Stands, Coats and valuables check, Mobile app.

For many years now, the festival has been SOLD OUT earlier than each previous year, all the tickets are snapped up at a voracious pace.
