American metalcore band, Killswitch Engage, are playing to the heights of their talent and delivering a full throttle energy that showcases the passion behind their career longevity. Lead vocalist, Jesse Leach’s, growls have a profound effect that riles up the crowd, and on the brink of their European tour with Bullet for my Valentine, the guys are ready to light up the stage and create pure rampage. I caught up with the guys to discuss their latest projects, tattoos and more.
You guys are gearing up for a tour through Europe with Bullet For My Valentine. What do fans have to look forward to this around?
We have been doing a rotating set of about 30 songs to ensure every night has a different feel to it. Something new for us and we are stoked on it!
Your seventh studio album, ‘Incarnate’, was one of your strongest and most balls to the wall deliveries yet. Anything currently in the works for the eighth album?
At the moment we are talking about getting new material started soon. Ideally, we could have some new music in the summer early fall of 2017.
Any artists that you are really enjoying at the moment?
Currently rocking the new Tribe Called Quest record! Crucial lyrics, great production, and real solid Hip Hop!
Tell us about one of your most wild experiences on the road.
Ha ha wild not so much. I do a lot of sightseeing and checking out historical places and architecture. I am always taking pictures and video to share with friends, family, and Online. Aside from being in a band and playing shows, I am a fairly easy going dude.
Let’s talk tattoos. Tell us about your favorite personal pieces and the artists that brought them to life.
I have a few I love, however most recent is on my right forearm. It’s an album cover from a musician called “Bruce Cockburn” from his 1978 album cover “Dancing in the Dragons Jaws.” It’s an homage to my musical upbringing through my father and a beautiful piece of art. The tattoo artist is Briana Sergent from Buju Tattoo in San Diego California. She is a unique and amazing artist with a light yet firm touch when she is working.
If you could only take three albums with you onto a deserted island, which three albums would you choose and why?
London calling -The Clash
Hollie Cook – Twice
Nada Surf – You know who you are
Because they are brilliant and flawless records!
What do fans have to look forward to from Killswitch Engage over the next six months?
A Blu-ray release that has a full-length documentary and live performances as well!
You guys are releasing a two-disc, Blu-Ray and CD package that is exclusive to Record Store Day on Friday, November 25th. Tell us all about it.
It’s us showing the world who we are and what we have been through as we have traveled the world.
A lot of musicians are writing books now. If you were to write a book, what would you choose to write about?
I’d write a Science Fiction or Fantasy book.
Last but certainly not least, any closing messages for your fans?
Massive gratitude for all of the support! We love you all!
