DC-based Quartet, Babbling April, are taking steps in the best direction that suits their innate desires and make it known that they are embedding their hearts and souls into their artistry throughout their latest EP release, ‘Holy Gold’.
Kicking off with the first track and single release, “Reputation”, lyricism that meets the embodied, rebellious, seasoned and impassioned comes to life and makes you want to shout along as the band skips along their lives and refuse to be swallowed whole by outside influences that would make them feel programmed and obedient. “Blighted Years” is the second track and album highlight that carries a variety of streamlined instrumentals that showcase the range of talent that has come together with shared values and the sheer love of creating music. The third track, “In the Vulgate”, paints the picture that there are unlimited creative possibilities for Babbling April as they create a masterpiece of complex musicality.
“If Hearts Really Do Break” is the fourth track that begins with the instrumental creation of the impact of heartbreak rushing through an individual’s veins as the tragedy leaves their life suddenly rearranged and swiftly leads into the feeling of setting oneself free with an open road and boundless choices ahead. The fifth track, “Without a Care”, showcases the emotive power within the vocals of Vivienne Machi and leaves listeners in a state of reflection as the bounce between masculine and feminine perspectives blend seamlessly and create a track that is one to turn to when in a state of deep contemplation. Closing out with “Alliances and Rifts (And Separations in the Holy Gold), Babbling April leaves listener in a state of ease within a blast of instrumental love.
Stretching through their boundless creative inner worlds have led Babbling April to the creation of an eclectic EP, ‘Holy Gold’, abounding with Psychedelic Rock and Electronic bliss that waxes and wanes through a kaleidoscopic array of thought and feeling.
