I was in the photo pit at Carolina Rebellion in May of 2015 when another photographer who had never shot Hatebreed before, asked me what she should expect. I said, “Hatebreed has some of the most brutal pits and rabid fans. Watch your head and be ready to duck. Bodies are going to be flying over the barrier and I’m just hoping I don’t get kicked in the head.” I escaped unscathed…the other photographer got kicked in the head by a fan being body passed over the security barrier. Thankfully, she didn’t suffer any injuries from the incident.
There are few shows that match the intensity of a Hatebreed concert, which is why we always enjoy seeing them live. At Dirt Fest 2016, we got to see them for at least the third time this year and also chat with guitarist Frank Novinec about their new album “The Concrete Confessional”, and also get Frank’s stories underneath the ink.
