Indy rock band, ForeverAtLast, are passionate about the music that they deliver and have been plugging away and gearing up to make strong waves in 2017. Spending time in the studio to bring to life their sophomore record and serve up energetic emotion is what ForeverAtLast are doing as we speak, and I caught up with lead singer, Brittany Paris, to discuss the follow up to ‘Ghosts Again’, being the only female in the band, being signed to Victory Records, tattoos, and more.
First and foremost, introduce yourself to our readers. Who is ForeverAtLast?
My name is B, I’m the lead vocalist of FAL. Jordan Vickers is our guitarist, Seth Brown does vocals and bass, and Jared Paris is our drummer.
Is there a follow-up to your second studio album, ‘Ghosts Again’, in the works that you can fill us in about?
We are currently working on writing our sophomore Record. We are really excited for this next one. Its gonna have a whole new sound, and we’re hoping to write “the record”. We’ve been discussing a lot of old albums that just set the bar; that’s our goal for 2017.
Let’s talk tattoos. Tell us about some of your favorite personal pieces and the artists that brought them to life.
My favorite tattoo I have on my arm is my gems. My friend Adam Stoner of Rue Morgue Tattoo Gallery in Shelbyville, IN did them! They’re realism, and that’s my favorite style. On my leg I’ve got Disney and other cartoon characters done by the talented April Stead and Dane Smith at Artistic Skin Design in Indianapolis, in.
If you could tour the world with any bands/musicians for six months straight, who would you choose and why?
I would choose Silverstein and Taking Back Sunday currently. I truly feel that would be a tour to take over all tours right now, ha. I feel like we all have an energy and a vibe that could really take a house down and truly bring some awesome people together. Along with building some incredible friendships.
Brittany, being the only female in the band, how do you perceive that adds to the creative mix and adds a unique touch to your artistry as a musician? Please excuse my sexism!
Male, female, or otherwise, I think if you’ve got something unique about you and you bring it to the table, then you’ve made the start of something unique. But being the only gal in my band I think sets something unique in itself. A lot of people expect the lady in the group to be the girly one, over the top, dramatic etc etc.. but with me, I think just be yourself and do what makes you, you. And with that, you cannot fail.
What do fans of ForeverAtLast have to look forward to in 2017?
A new record, a new sound, a new fal. We’ve had a lot of quiet months lately, due to some personal things. But we’re excited to get back into touring and hit the ground running. This record is gonna be something great; I can feel that.
How has being signed to Victory Records influenced you and changed your lives?
It’s definitely given us a lot of opportunities. Caused me to see things differently at times, and stretch me as a musician. We enjoy working with them and are hoping this coming year stretches and pushes us even more.
What is your perception of the current state of punk rock?
I think it’s kinda in this in between stage! More than anything, the punk rock community sticks together and pushes one another to stay true to who they are in the scene, in their lives and in their music. It’s always growing, and that’s what we hope for all music scenes as a whole!
If there is a concert memory of yours that stands out amongst the rest, what show is it and how did it serve to inspirit your own music?
It would be when I saw My Chemical Romance and Blink 182 a couple years ago. I’d waited years to see MCR, and finally the day had come. I remember feeling absolutely still… then seeing them come out and change the absolute feeling of the stage. They filled the whole arena and almost made you be a part of the very air. That band has and continues to encourage me as a musician, and as a writer. I’ve since met and played with members of MCR and they are the most encouraging people. I can’t thank them enough.
Last but certainly not least, any closing messages for your fans?
Continue to stick with us. We have something great on the horizon.. and we believe it’s gonna be our best yet. We thank you for sticking with us during our time of silence. But we’re still here and we’re gearing up to give you something great. Can’t wait for you guys to hear this. Xo B
