Atlanta rapper, Dae Dae, has been lighting up the music industry with smash track after track ever since the drop of his ‘4 Reason’s mixtape, and you better believe that he is only just beginning to claim his stake. Keeping his roots in mind and traveling in mind back in time to bring to life a dose of the realest rhymes in the game, it’s inevitable that Dae Dae has one of his most promising years ahead. I caught up with the man to discuss his hit club banger, growing up in a legendary city that has produced some of the greatest of all time, his journey as a rapper, tattoos, and more.
First and foremost, congrats on all of your success within 2016. Your hit single, “Spend It”, has flown to the top of the charts. Tell us about the creative and recording process of bringing the track to life.
Thank you, “Spend It” was a record that just felt good when Trill the producer played the beat. Soon as I went in the booth I knew it was gonna be a club banger!
How has growing up in a city that is home to a variety of legendary Hip-Hop musicians, Atlanta, influenced your artistry?
I was influenced greatly, I had a lot of good music to listen to. I like the music Outkast made. Their music made me sharp when I started doing my own records.
Let’s talk tattoos. Tell us about some of your favorite pieces and the artists that brought them to life.
I have a lot of tattoos. My favorite right now are the blue kisses on my face.
Who are some artists that you would like to work with in the upcoming year and why?
Chris Brown and Usher. I think we would make some dope music.
Do you play any fantasy sports? What are your thoughts on the Super Bowl and who are you bettin’ your money on?
Not big on fantasy football. I’m from Atlanta so you know my money on the Falcons though!
What can we expect from Dae Dae in 2017? Any upcoming projects or tour plans that you can fill us in about?!
2017 expect more hits and a lot of different type of records from me.
‘5 Reasons’ the mixtape coming soon!
Tell us about your journey within the world of music. When did you start out rapping? Did you spit in street cyphers?
Just a lot of open mics and grinding….I started rapping as a lil kid. I would be the best in my circle, but realized I had to hit bigger crowds.
As for the legacy that you leave behind in Hip-Hop, what do you want it be?
I want to be known for real music that makes you feel good.
If you could tour the world with any two musicians dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
That would be 2pac and Michael Jackson. They’re the best to ever do it!
Last but certainly not least, any closing messages for your fans?
Yes, thank you guys. There would be no Dae Dae without your support. Thank you for real! LOVELIFE!
