Progressive metal outfit Black Note Graffiti releases their new single, “The Source,” a track lifted from their upcoming long player, Resist The Divide, slated to drop on October 25
Talking about the song, the band shares, “‘The Source’ is a composition that underscores the subjugation an individual may endure when entangled in self-destructive tendencies. Terms such as ‘crawl’ and ‘kill’ are employed to metaphorically represent the perpetual and consuming cycle of addiction. Despite cognizance of the repercussions, it becomes apparent that the weight of one’s struggles is overwhelming, leading them to seek solace in the very thing causing their destruction. The concluding lyric, ‘Waking up to nothing real,’ conveys the aftermath of sobriety, where reality feels elusive and intangible.”
Resist The Divide is Black Note Graffiti’s fourth studio album, produced by Josh Schroder (Lorna Shore, King 810, Butcher Babies). The band’s unique sound blends elements of progressive metal and melodic alternative rock.
According to producer Josh Schroder, “I had a blast working with Black Note Graffiti. Every member brings their own passion and personality to the record, and one of the many things I love about my job as a producer is to make sure those creative voices all work in tandem in the final mix. Too often, ‘producers’ favor the conveniences of modern recording techniques over getting something done right that truly represents the band. It’s not an accident that Black Note Graffiti’s best record is the one that sounds the most like them. Every band member knows exactly how much, and (often more important) how little to play to give their music phenomenal power and dynamics. Gabby is an absolute powerhouse of a vocalist. All they need now is the right opportunity to show the rest of the world what they can do because Black Note Graffiti has everything else primed for tremendous success.”
Black Note Graffiti will tour during the fall and winter, followed by touring throughout most of 2025. The band has shared the stage with heavyweights like Lamb of God, Bring Me The Horizon, Memphis May Fire, and Dorothy and performed at notable festivals, including SXSW, Upheaval Festival, and NXNE Festival Toronto.
“The Source” opens on chunky, frayed-wire guitars riding powerful drums as Gabrielle-Gloria’s potent, dreamy vocals imbue the lyrics with portentous timbres and luscious, tonal nuances. It’s one of those out of this world voices that’s simultaneously ethereal and muscular, alluring and risky.
Distinctively dark and atmospheric, with “The Source,” Black Note Graffiti delivers a wickedly surging prog-metal track.
