Atlanta Indie Musicians, Nocturnal Animals, have added their emotions, sexual fantasies, relational encounters and erotic dreams into a musical blender to deliver a fusion of Rock ‘N’ Roll and Soul throughout their EP release, ‘Dark Lit Places’.
Kicking off with a cryptically dark opening movie line over the first track, “Teeth”, Nocturnal Animals move into a sultry place of sensuality that adds tingles to the spines of listeners while the lyrical content suggests connecting beyond the physical with an individual that desires nothing short of lustful and lewd in the bedroom. The second track, “4 AM”, showcases lead vocalist, Mason Jones’, ability to invigorate charisma with his sexy and sensual vocal prowess that adds force into the bands corpus of romantic, dark, metaphorically rich, emotional and captivatingly theatrical lyrical rapture.
“Red Shoes” is the third track with begins with an instrumental blast of drums that mimics the style of The All-American Rejects and slides into a smoky cloud of musical mystery with lyrics speaking of being on the go and attempting to find balance between embracing demons and simultaneously taming them so they don’t overpower rationality within love and life. Closing out with “Satellite”, Nocturnal Animals slow it down with a piano opening the doors of lyrical vulnerability and shaking the band members’ to the core as they rattle off the thoughts that they’ve kept within while being strangled within their self-composed webs of sin.
Nocturnal Animals is an Indie Band who carries massive potential and is taking steps in the right direction toward solidifying their sound and style. ‘Dark Lit Places’ leaves a mark on the heart, and if you’re a fan of fellow musicians such as Kill Hannah, Jimmy Eat World, Our Lady Peace and Bayside, then check out what Nocturnal Animals has to offer on SoundCloud.
