New Years day is a band that will add a bit of Goth to your Rock, grind it up, and then launch it through your ear-holes. This band is taking over stages worldwide right now. Touring with HELLYEAH and heading to Europe, we were lucky enough to chat with them at Rock on the Range. Here’s Nikki Misery telling ROCKwell UnScene and Tattoo.com about touring, new music, and ink.

Mel: Hey everybody it’s Mischievous Mel here at Rock On The Range with ROCKwell UnScene and Tattoo.com and I am standing with (Nikki Misery from) New Years Day!
Nikki Misery (NM): Hey how’s it going?
Mel: How do you keep your makeup on in the rain?
NM: I try not to, I try to make it look the worst as possible.

Mel: I heard you guys are going to Europe, tell us about that.
NM: That’s right, in a couple of days we’re heading out to Europe – we have a couple headlining shows and we’re doing the festival run. We’re headlining the Kerrang stage at Slam Dunk and then we’re playing Download in Paris, and we have the Metal Hammer awards out there which is going to be gnarly. I think we’re up for best music video.

Mel: Tell me a little bit about your Rock on the Range experience.
NM: It was awesome! It was very gloomy at first and there was no rain, so I had to do a bunch of rain dances outside to make it pour becuase if the show’s not out of control, then what’s the point? It was wild.
Mel: I love seeing you guys live. What would you tell a person who has never seen you to get them to come to your show?
NM: If you like blood, sex, violence, a wild rock and roll show from real rock and roll people, then come out and see us. We’re not gonna disappoint.

Mel: Tell us about your ink.
NM: I’m inked up everywhere. This one and these (points to arms). I actually saw in a dream where I ripped up my arms and that’s how I looked on the inside. These are how I got my first girlfriend. This one is based off one of my favorite movies. It was done by Joey Remmers, he did most of my work.
Mel: I was gonna ask you next who you wanted to shout out.
NM: Definitely Joey Remmers who is like one of the first people to tattoo me, I go back to him all the time, Danny Anchor out of Illuminati Tattoos who’s done a lot of my most recent work, and then I have Dave Sanchez who did my chest piece which is amazing.

Mel: It’s all beautiful ink and you don’t have a lot of space left on you, but do you plan on getting anymore?
NM: There’s plenty of space left, I’ll fit it in.
Mel: So the next time I see you I can say to take it all off?
NM: I would have done that anyways.
Mel: Well thank you for your time and shoutout where people can find you and your music.
