I'm looking for a tattoo artist who can design me an upper arm flowing onto upper back piece that contains text and potentially some illustration from the poem Ulysses by Tennyson (can't post link but google it). I'm not interested in the first or third stanzas, but want to illustrate the second and fourth.
I'd like to get as much as possible of the text into the tattoo, but I don't want the words to stand statically - I'd like them to blend into an image, or to make an image themselves.
Lines I'd like to stand out:
* "I will drink / Life to the lees:"
* "I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough
Gleams that untravelled world"
* "but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things;"
* "Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows;"
* "that which we are, we are;"
I thought about the words weaving themselves into an ocean that a ship sails on, and a star in the distance representing "that untravelled world", but I'd love to see other interpretations! I'm interested in a lot of detail, and the feel of Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man (again, can't post link but google!), but with a more Victorian edge to honour the era of the poem. Script and construction lines, and the feel of a detailed Victorian manuscript on my skin.
Big ask, I know, but worth a shot!
