I got my first tattoo when I was 16. I wanted my tongue pierced. My mom who had come along to sign the waiver said, “I don’t know…why don’t you get a tattoo instead?”
I’ve been hooked ever since.
My dad has always been a good influence being in the music industry whether it be drawing, painting, sewing, and anything creative really. My mom’s a florist and having worked in her shop for at least a decade, flowers are one of my favorite things to tattoo. I feel with tattooing I get the ultimate canvas. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
It took a long time for females to gain respect in the tattoo industry and I’m very grateful to be where I am now. I first started working the front counter local tattoo shop, but I wanted to be in the back where all the action was. I started studying under Peel Smith in 2006 at Dansing Dragon Tattoos in Mississauga, ON, who taught me the proper fundamentals. I wouldn’t be as strong of a tattoo artist without his decades of experience.
With such a diverse group of interesting people there’s never a dull moment on Commercial Drive! In 2012 I joined the East Van Inc Familia and I’m fortunate to work with so many interesting people. It really challenges me to use a trained eye for what works and what looks good on the body in all kinds of different styles of tattooing. I look forward to building long lasting relationships with my cliental and always look forward to the “work” they bring me.
