If you want a custom tattoo design, you’re going to need to seek inspiration that you can later feed your tattoo artist for ideas and design planning.

Girly Tattoos: But What Kind of Girly?

Submitted by Naomi V on Thu, 2014-05-08 15:36

Who doesn't love girly tattoos? There is such a wide range of what one could consider girly. From classic damsel in distress, all in pink, girly-girly, to badass, roller derby chick, edgy kind of girly. Ankle tattoos are a lovely place for girls to get some ink. The ankle is an elegant part of the female body, perfect for a feminine design. Because the ankle is a smaller part of the body, a smaller design should be selected. Don't worry, that still gives the wearer tons of options for this spot! It is also a wonderful spot to get tattooed if it is your first tattoo. It's less painful than other areas, and this part of the body doesn't change as much as other spots, such as the stomach or the thighs. Here are some ideas for ankle tattoos:

Free Tattoo Designs: At What Cost?

Submitted by Naomi V on Wed, 2014-05-07 23:22

Surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly) there are people who look for free tattoo designs. While it may be monetarily free to do an internet search and select an existing tattoo design, that is not a truly unique expression of the individual who will add it to their body. It is their body, though, so who's to say? With free tattoo designs, you do not have the flexibility to change the artwork to what you really want (unless you are an artist or very artistically inclined).

Anyone who’s tattooed or been tattooed knows the experience is painful. To what degree depends on both personal pain tolerance and of course tattoo placement.

So before you grab the machine and get to work on customer’s skin, how do you make them feel comfortable?

Ease Their Expectations

If your customer has no prior tattoos and requests a design on a more tender area, a reputable tattoo artist should always advise first on the pain level, to better inform their customer of the potential experience.

What Makes a Tattoo Art?

Submitted by Naomi V on Tue, 2014-05-06 17:05

Tattoos have a long and rich history that spans among cultures and classes. There are stereotypes also associated with tattoo, but things are starting to change within the realm of tattoo culture. More people from different walks of life are adoopting tattoo as an acceptable form of personal adornment. Even moreso, people are starting to see tattoo for what it is - a true artform. While tattoo art is becoming less taboo and more largely appreciated, there still are some differences between tattoos and those we can deem as tattoo art.
