Young women in their twenties are usually the age group to get the lower back tattoo. It's placement is so commonly associated with women that men generally do not get them. The lower back is seen as an erotic part of the female body. This also has created the popular opinion that these tattoos are linked to a woman’s sexuality. Often a woman with a “tramp stamp” is seen as promiscuous. Some like the idea associated with it, while others find it offensive.
