Nicholas has always been inspired by art and its various forms of expression. He was born and raised in Tucson Arizona and at a young age experimented with drawing though despite the constant encouragement for his mom, he always thought he could be better and had much to improve on. It wasn't until he was sixteen that he saw his first tattoo magazine, which ignited an interest in the art of tattooing. The tattoo magazine displayed a realistic tattoo of Ozzy Osbourne, and it was the realism and perfection of the piece which amazed Nicholas. It was at this point that Nicholas knew he wanted to use his artistic abilities and apply them to tattoos in order to recreate the perfectionism captivated in that tattoo.
Nicholas did his apprenticeship at a local tattoo shop in Tucson Arizona and worked six days a week, twelve hours a day. On his only day off Nicholas worked at a local day care to make ends meet and ensure his apprentice fees were paid. It was during Nicholas' apprenticeship that he strengthened his already vast knowledge of black and grey and began to take on color with many different techniques to master. There have been many influences on Nicholas' art work from tattoo artist to painters which include: Tom Renshaw, Nick Baxter, Nikko Hurtado, H.R. Giger, M.C.Esher, Dali and his surrealism has taken Nicholas a long way.
Today, Nicholas has been tattooing for Eight years and is the owner and operator of K42 Tattoos. Loving to tattoo Nicholas says that the day he started tattooing is the day he never worked again. Nicholas enjoys pushing his employees and peers in artistic avenues that they have yet to discover on their own. While Nicholas' tattoo skills are well rounded and can take on any challenge he is drawn to tattoo realistic pieces such as: portraits, animal, and anything that challenges him. He has also embarked on a new journey and paints with acrylics on his free time, some of his art pieces can be found hanging in the tattoo shop.
In addition to tattooing Nicholas also is a family man, his wife is his greatest fan and even bigger support. They have a daughter together that is eight who says that she is going to run the business when she gets older. You can find her at the shop giving feedback and doing her own art as well
