The gifted singer-songwriter and professional sound healer Theda Phoenix recently released her latest long player, Crystal Calm, Vol. 2.
Talking about the album, Phoenix says, “’Crystal Calm, Vol. 2′ isn’t just music, it’s a sonic gateway into a deep inner journey, a multi-layered creation utilizing unique binaural recording technology. Crafted with hours of attention to the subtle nuances of each sound. It guides you on a journey into self and the place where you feel a sense of oneness with all of life.”
Along with her enchanting voice, Crystal Calm, Vol. 2 reveals a diverse musical range that encompasses the meditative soundscapes of Crystal Singing Bowls, to her conscious eco-folk, inspirational songs on guitar, Theda’s angelic and melodious voice resonates with her profound affinity for life and her unwavering commitment to human connection, transformation, and healing.
A deep connection with nature influences her sound, her Metis ancestry, and being brought up by the sea on the British Columbia coast of the Broughton Archipelago. Theda boasts an impressive discography, including multiple indie studio albums, and has graced numerous stages, including the Ottawa Folk Festival.
Theda’s journey into spirituality early on led her to explore various holistic modalities such as Yoga, Reiki, Massage, Counseling, and Huna. However, she discovered that her most potent healing gift lay in her love of singing. Her spontaneous, intuitive singing style embodies the creative life force and spiritual wisdom inherent in all existence.
She has shared the stage with luminaries such as Deepak Chopra and Dr. Joe Dispenza. Her live shows are renowned for their captivating and transformative nature, offering a profound healing experience connecting listeners with their hearts’ soulful depths.
Encompassing nine tracks, entry points include “Calm Inception,” with its flowing water intro. Hints of singing bowls enter, followed by the drifting ethereal voice of Phoenix, at once elysian and oh-so entrancing. The feel and mood of the song are exquisitely hypnotic, ushering listeners into another numinous dimension.
“Emerging” opens on vibrating, ringing tones as Phoenix’s sighing vocals imbue the tune with floating surfaces, akin to the gliding motion of clouds. Arguably one of the album’s premier tracks, “Mama River” offers a lush, exhaling sensation, as if hovering and shimmering simultaneously, like being enveloped in the Empyrean.
Tinted with deeper, darker colors, “Crystal Currents” echoes with interweaving layers of gentle coasting savors, delivering a sonic confection of pure elegance. Whereas “Floating Bliss” travels on the translucent textures of Phoenix’s voice accompanied by resonant chiming notes.
The final track, “Surrender,” conjures up a dreamy ambiance, a velvety soundscape adorned by silky, wafting colors. Charged with mysterious timbres, Phoenix’s voice unveils the movement of the cosmos.
Magically and wonderfully beguiling, with Crystal Calm, Vol. 2, Theda Phoenix provides a revelation of the inner truth.
