Albuquerque artist Eddie Risley aka Eddie Rise has been tattooing for five years. It was “the art, the pain, the modification, the change, the transformation, the desire to stand apart from the crowd, the precision and the beauty of the craft” that inspired Eddie to pursue his career as a tattoo artist, along with his love for the tattoo community as a whole.
Get to know Eddie by reading below and take a peek at some of his excellent work along the way:
How would you describe your style?
Constantly evolving and growing, my heart lies in geometry
How many tattoos do you have?
My body is about 50% covered.
Most interesting tattooing experience?
A woman wanted a target tattooed on her lower back- I don’t care to describe why because it’s nasty.
What is one of your pet peeves as a tattoo artist?
Bargain shoppers.
If you could tattoo any person in the world, who would you choose?
My dad.
Besides tattooing, what are you passionate about?
Anything outdoors and things with two wheels that go fast! Also, SNAAAACKS!
Tell us about your shop/studio – what’s the vibe like?
I work at Sacred Arts Tattoo in Old Town. The space is very zen and full of creatives. I work alongside the owner and an apprentice and there’s a yoga studio in front of the building. Clients can expect incense burning in the background, relaxing environment, projector screen to watch movies…
