2001 ‘Break The Cycle’ being the bands 3rd Studio album and probably their most successful album to date, bringing STAIND into the mainstream, selling more than 4 millions copies worldwide. 90s Grundge at it’s finest, with it’s heavy deep hitting and hard, questions. Here we see it played 20 years later in its entirety.
We see the start as a documentary style, each member reminiscing on how things were before joining the band. Building up anticipation for the main event. The production then sends you on a journey through, Mill 1 in Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts, bringing the band back to their Western Mass roots and the start of this fully virtual event, with no in-person attendance.
In a warehouse effect the band open with ‘Open Your Eyes.’ Production being spot on with numerous camera angles, no colour lighting obstructing the audience view allowing the band to shine straight into your living room. ‘Pressure’ brings erratic but powerful pose, every word meant and felt. ‘Fade’ ” I just want someone to talk too!” you can imagine a crowd singing every word. Then chart topper ‘It’s Been A While’ you understand why this is such a loved song, with the introduction of subtle blue and red lighting, a genius effect to the set. ‘Change’ ‘Can’t believe’ ‘Epiphany’ ‘Suffer’ ‘Warm Safe place’ are all brought with the same power, head banging fury and emotion with amazing talent as it was delivered 20 years ago. STAIND delivers time and time again!
With intriguing insights, vintage footage and a very impressive career defining performance.
