Imagine the hands the size of Shaq connected to the body of Hercules taking a needle and tattooing your head… Yup, that was my first thought when I saw Joey Mullen at the Strength Cartel booth at MUSINK. I was witnessing this power-lifter/tattoo artist doing one of the best head tattoos I have ever seen. I had to stop for two reasons. First, how did the client feel about having a tattoo done by someone who could rip a tree from the ground bare handed working on his head? But when I asked the guy in the chair if Mullen was heavy-handed or light, he said “light.” That was a huge surprise to me. My second reason for stopping was the incredible detail and overall killer piece.
