Detroit-based alt/metal trio Riding With Killers drops their single, “Hostility,” blending elements of ‘90s guitar rock, industrial, and nu-metal.
Made up of current and ex-members of Taproot, Riding With Killers comprises the present guitarist of Taproot, Taylor Roberts (guitar, vocals), who formed the band out of the remnants of former projects Cathercist and Wild Fire; Jed Thibeault (drums), and bassists James Lascu and Damon Tate.
Produced by Matthew LaPlant, Roberts and Riding With Killer’s first drummer, Dave Coughlin, connected with friends Tim Krukowski (ex-Sponge), producer Matthew LaPlant and James Lascu (ex-Wilson) to write the song, which was mastered by LaPlant at Madtown Mix Studios.
Riding With Killers has established their reputation for ferocious music and sizzling live performances in the Gulf Coast region and beyond. “Hostility” follows on the heels of 2022’s “What Comes Next.”
“Hostility” opens on snarling guitars riding a thick, potent rhythm made up of a fat bassline and tight, finessed drums. Brimming with alt-metal energy, on the chorus the tune ramps up to heavy, growling waves of guitars as Roberts’ scowling voice, at once rasping and grimacing with cutting edges, imbues the lyrics with vicious timbres.
Riding With Killers has it going on! Drenched in reckless dynamism, “Hostility” pumps out deliciously brutal waves of alt-metal.
