Taunton, Massachusetts-based rock outfit Ol’ Rattlebones recently released their new single, “My Love,” an appetizer for their upcoming EP, Rise Chapter 1, slated for release on December 2. Rise Chapter 1 is the first of three EPs.
The band explains, “‘Rise’ is a group of 13 songs which was written during the height of the pandemic. It is an expression of anger, frustration, and an overall perspective of what we were all going through at the time.”
Made up of Mike ‘Whitey’ White (guitar), Chris Edmond (vocals, guitar), Derek Dutra (drums), and Darrell Vitali (bass), Ol’ Rattlebones comprises a group of musicians who are also friends. Their intent is to make rock music that grips listeners’ souls.
Ol’ Rattlebones dropped their self-titled debut album in 2020. With their down-to-earth hard rock sound, influenced by bands like T. Rex and Black Sabbath, along with tints of blues-rock and modern alternative edges, Ol’ Rattlebones pumps out fierce energy.
“My Love” rolls out on a potent rhythm composed of a rumbling bassline and tight, muscular percussion. Growling guitars give the tune heavy chugging surfaces, dark and brawny. Edmond’s rasping vocals imbue the lyrics with snarling timbres and beaucoup passion.
A dazzling, venomous guitar solo infuses the harmonics with incandescence, followed by the song reverting to its surging layers of powerful dynamics.
Brimming with retro-rock from the ‘60s and ‘70s, with “My Love,” Ol’ Rattlebones pumps out high-octane rock with oomph.
