Melodic nu-rock/alt-metal outfit Dark Remedy introduces their new single/music video, “Guilty As Charged,” via Pepper Gomez’s label Wake Up! Music Rocks.
Formed by songwriters Steven Miller (vocals, lead guitar) and Cary Parsons (rhythm guitar, vocals) during the pandemic. In 2022, Dark Remedy joined forces with the Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum drummer, Paul Crosby (formerly of Saliva).
In addition to making music, guitarist/vocalist Cary Parsons, aka Mister Sinister, is a professional wrestler.
Talking about the song, Parsons says, “‘Guilty As Charged’ for me is an anthem for everybody told that they shouldn’t be themselves… Be you and be proud!!”
Miller echoes Parsons, adding, “Stay true to yourself no matter what.”
Known for their formidable sound, featuring roaring guitars, catchy hooks, hypnotic synths, and crushing drums, Dark Remedy’s music conveys sensations of evocative reflection that reveal the emotional fluctuations of life.
In 2023, Dark Remedy released four successful singles, “Blood Money,” which hit #15 on the Secondary Market Chart, followed by “Haunted,” “Now Or Never,” and “Possession.” The latter track amassed more than 58, 000 streams on Spotify.
Rolling out on emerging tone, “Guilty As Charged” ramps up to heavy guitars accented by spectral synths. Scratchy, potent vocals imbue the lyrics with intense passion, a defiance directed toward those who would try to press everyone into the same mold.
“With the world against me / Can’t find my place / I feel so filthy / From my mistakes / If it’s a crime for being me / Then lock me up and throw away the key / I’m guilty as charged.”
Crosby’s drumming utilizes a delicious off-tempo beat to infuse the rhythm with an anomalous crunching feel, elevating the tune to another level of edginess.
