The new single, “Last Of Me,” from nu-rock/alt-rock outfit ColdWards, finds the band teaming up with vocalist Aaron Nordstrom, a talented multi-instrumentalist, and the vocalist for the Las Vegas band, Gemini Syndrome, and the vocalist of Belgian’s Woyote.
“Last Of Me,” written and produced by Nordstrom, Paul Crosby, and Zac Crosby, was mixed by Elijah Santucci, and mastered by Ted Jensen.
ColdWards comprises Zac Crosby (vocals, electronics), Richie Hey (bass), guitarist Michael Friese, and drummer Paul Crosby, the former drummer of the Grammy-nominated, Gold, and Platinum-certified band Saliva.
Formed in 2020, ColdWards was almost immediately signed by Pepper Gomez’s enterprising label Wake Up Music Rocks. Gomez, who has a gift for detecting talent, recognized the band’s massive potential.
In 2021, ColdWards released their debut single, “Say Something,” amassing more than 375,000 streams on Spotify. They followed with “My Skeletons,” “Stained on You,” “Whirlwind,” “Bad News,” “Flatline,” “The Fire Inside,” featuring Jonathan Norris, “Antidote,” and most recently “Sunflower.”
The band’s 2022 debut album, Bloodwork, realized over 1 million streams. Currently, fans are awaiting ColdWards’ debut EP, Bad News.
ColdWards’ ever-evolving sound summons elusive hints Linkin Park and Slipknot, along with the melodic surfaces of Evanescence. Visceral and at times almost primal, there’s a subtle elegance inherent in their sound.
“Last Of Me” opens on heavy, crushing guitars atop a formidable rhythm driven by Crosby’s powerful drumming and Hey’s thick bass. Nordstrom’s distinctive, potent voice suffuses the lyrics with earnest petitioning tones, searching for redemption like Prometheus subjected to the wrath of Zeus. On the chorus, Nordstrom and Zac Crosby blend their evocative voices in spellbinding harmony.
“This is I, last of me / Just without a moral code / (Eyes of revenge) / My hesitance gone / What follows is a storm / (Rise like the wind) / This is I / Last of me / And what’s left of my remorse.”
Chock-full of chunky, biting guitars, revealing lyrics, and galvanizing energy, “Last Of Me” witnesses ColdWards reaching into their guts and laying it all out.
