Nu-metalcore band A Moment of Violence releases their new single/music video, “Shots Fired: Anthem for the Betrayed,” a song capturing the visceral feeling of being deceived and abandoned by those you formerly trusted.
Made up of lead vocalists, Russell Miller and Alex Xcean, Desi Pena (lead and rhythm guitars), Brent Richardson (lead and rhythm guitars), Scott Eriksen (drums), and Hatchet (bass), A Moment of Violence got together in 2021, followed by releasing a series of singles, including “Fine,” “Scrape,” and “Forgiveness,” which collectively amassed hundreds of thousands of streams.
A Moment of Violence caught the attention of Pepper Gomez, label boss at Wake Up! Music Rocks. Gomez signed the band, saying, “The strength of their compositions speak for themselves.” The band released “Stone Cold Killer” in 2023, followed by 2024’s “My Endless Nightmare,” which currently sits at number 15 on the Digital Radio Tracker independent charts.
The video for “My Endless Nightmare, produced by Hollywood producer Domonick Giorgianni, went on to win an award at the Music Video Awards Film Festival.
The band’s music amalgamates metalcore and nu-metal, resulting in a raw, savage sound that’s simultaneously heavy-duty and permeated by an elusive elegance.
According to Pena, the creative process usually starts with a contagious riff off which he continues to build the song. Once he has finished the composition, he gets together with the band’s vocalists, and they convey the emotion of the song through the lyrics.
The lyrics of “Shots Fired: Anthem for the Betrayed” reveal the anguish of disillusionment and unfaithfulness.
“Spend the day in my shoes then you’ll realize / Defined by all these secrets that you try to hide / I asked for equal, but you wanted it all / So now the gloves come off.”
“Shots Fired: Anthem for the Betrayed” rolls out on deep, aching tones, flowing into a hefty rhythm highlighted by Eriksen’s sprays of double-bass and Hatchet’s massive, fuzzy bassline. Potent, melodic vocals narrate the tale of treachery, followed by a thick, growling voice that exposes the anger and pain instigated by deception.
A Moment of Violence has it going on! With each successive release, they exhibit their evolving, muscular sound.
