Florida’s nu-metalcore outfit A Moment Of Violence (AMOV) introduces their new single/music video, “My Endless Nightmare,” a track lifted from the band’s upcoming debut EP via Wake Up! Music Rocks.
According to the band, “Violence and addiction are widespread global epidemics that too many adults and children face each and every day. We wrote this song for those affected, for those who live in constant fear, in high hopes that it will bring a worldwide recovery. The pain and struggle is very, very real. If we don’t work to change, to heal it, it will never go away. Hence, ‘My Endless Nightmare’ …”
“My Endless Nightmare” follows on the heels of A Moment Of Violence’s previous single, “Stone Cold Killer,” which is currently charting both the Indie and the Rock DRT charts.
Formed in 2021, A Moment Of Violence is fronted by dual lead vocalists, Russell Miller and Alex Xcean, along with Desi Pena (lead and rhythm guitars), Brent Richardson (lead and rhythm guitars), Scott Eriksen (drums), and Hatchet (bass).
A Moment Of Violence’s sound blends elements of metalcore and nu-metal with hints of beatdown hardcore, emphasizing moshable riffs, powerful breakdowns, and thick, fuzzy basslines. Music journalist AndrewTM refers to nu-metalcore as “tough guy metalcore.” It’s a sound that makes you want to throw down in your room.
In 2023, AMOV released three singles, “Fine,” “Scraped,” and “Forgiveness.” After signing with Pepper Gomez’s flourishing label, Wake Up! Music Rocks, they released “Stone Cold Killer.”
Talking about his writing process, guitarist Desi Pena told The Media Man, “It all starts with the initial riff that is catchy. Sometimes it’s a chorus, or verse, etc. However, I’ll build the song from there. Believe it or not, vocals come last. Once I have a completed musical composition, Alex, Russ (both vocalists), and I will sit down and try to get a grasp on how the song makes us feel.”
“My Endless Nightmare” rolls out on heavy, chunking guitars riding a muscular, percussive membrane dripping portentous pressure. Shifts to low, rumbling interludes topped by melodic vocals infuse the tune with suppressed titanic emotions, followed by snarling vocals. The ebb and rise of the harmonics invest the lyrics with urgent fervency, highlighted by the scope of the vocal textures.
The video, dark and chaotic and eerily malevolent, is at once surreal and crawls with taut foreboding energy.
Eviscerating seems the best term to describe “My Endless Nightmare,” a ferociously savage, kick-ass song from A Moment Of Violence.
