“Bullet,” the new single/music video from nu-metalcore band A Moment Of Violence (AMoV), conveys the impact of its title, drenched in gut-bashing immediacy.
Guitarist Brent Richardson says, “‘Bullet,’ a song that devours the soul in an emotional journey, a message about the personal restraints that one can overcome to be the best version of themselves possible with upbeat melodies, blazing guitars, and booming electrifying drums, this song is a true testament to what a human being can endure. It truly sounds like a masterpiece that knows no bounds; a metaphorical bullet cannot stop the person in charge of their own destiny.”
“Bullet” follows AMoV’s previous releases on Pepper Gomez’s ascendant Wake Up! Music Rocks label, “S.H.O.T.S Fired – Anthem For The Betrayed” and “My Endless Nightmare.” However, “Bullet” comes across as tighter and rawer, bursting with defiance.
Imagine Slipknot meets Five Finger Death Punch meets Avenged Sevenfold and you’ll have an inkling of the visceral power of A Moment Of Violence’s sound, an amalgamation of hardcore and metalcore, as well as hints of underground black and death metal distilled into industrial-strength nu-metalcore.
A Moment Of Violence has been together since 2021 and features two vocalists: Russell Miller and Alex Xcean, along with Hatchet on bass, Scott Eriksen on drums, and Desi Pena and Brent Richardson on guitars. The band will release their five-track EP before long.
Talking about the band’s songwriting process, vocalist Alex Xcean told photogroupie, “The process starts with the lead guitarist, Desi. Desi writes all of the songs. After laying down drums and adding the other instruments, we tend to tweak the lyrical content as needed while tracking the vocals. A little trial and error and a lot of studio hours later, we find our finished product.”
Opening on pulsating tones, “Bullet” ramps up to an unloading melody full of wicked, snarling guitars topped by Miller’s clean, euphonious vocals, highlighted by Xcean’s harsh, growling voice. The duality of vocal textures imbues the lyrics with contrasting surfaces that combine to infuse the song with luscious antagonistic flavors and volume surges.
“I am alive, and my mind is dangerous / No Bullet can stop me / Walk down the line, so divine / I’m saying no bullet can stop me.”
With their signature blend of melodic craft and metalcore mass, A Moment Of Violence shows their talent for elemental complexity on “Bullet.”
