“Soft rock beach country” describes the sound of singer-songwriter Brent Saba, who introduces his brand-new track, “Country Sound,” the title track from his forthcoming debut EP, slated to drop March 18.
Brent’s previous releases include his debut single, “Carolina Girl,” “Prayed For You,” and “Southern State of Mind, all released in 2021. With influences such as Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, and Dierks Bentley, along with his singular voice, rife with nuanced baritone savors, Brent’s music is sure to appeal to country music’s vast audience.
Originally from eastern Pennsylvania, Brent spent his summers between New Jersey’s beaches and the mountains of Tennessee. Later, he relocated to Texas, where country music established a home in his heart, followed by moving to South Carolina, where he advanced his skill on the guitar and developed his unique sound.
Brent’s sound blends hints of country, retro ‘90s country, and country-rock, as well as tangs of pop elements, into luscious sonic concoctions.
“Country Sound” opens on a tasty drum shuffle topped by bright, gleaming guitars. The rhythm, composed of finessed drums and a vibrating bassline, provides the matrix for glowing washes of harmonics as Brent’s deluxe voice imbues the lyrics with carefree buoyancy.
As delightful as the melody is, it’s Brent’s expressive vocals that give the song vibrant oomph.
On the chorus, the tune takes on an effervescent feel, as glowing vocal harmonies add depth and dimension. A sparkling breakdown shifts the flow with shimmering textures and then ramps back up into sumptuous waves of “soft rock beach country,” rippling with tropical tinctures and contemporary country flavors.
Brimming with delicious layers of country rock dyed with traces of pop-country, “Country Sound” hits the very center of the sweet spot.
