This season of Big Brother would not have been complete without Christmas Joy Abbott who I consider a complete BAD-ASS!! She breaks her foot 13 days into the competition and she sticks it out for the full 92 days making it to final 3! Now that’s BAD-ASS if you ask me 🙂
Christmas headed back to North Carolina shortly after the show ended so we ended up doing our interview via Skype. You can watch the full 25-minute interview below as we go in-depth about EVERYTHING. So for you Big Brother fanatics, we talk Paul and the real story about their “friendship”, Bullying in the house with Kevin and why she deserves a second shot at the half-million dollar prize. Oh and so much MORE!!
My #1 question for Christmas was why she wanted to stay after her injury and what I came to find out blew my mind. “I wouldn’t leave the backyard until they agreed to let me stay. Before I even left to find out the extent of my injury, I was negotiating my return.” Christmas made it clear she put a lot of things aside in both her personal and professional life to be there and there was no way she was about to leave (even with a serious injury). She not only stayed but she made it all the way to the end on purely a social game. Plus she strategically aligned herself with two strong players in Josh and Paul.
Big Brother made headlines for possible bullying and slander especially directed at houseguest, Kevin Schlehuber so I wanted to get Christmas’s take on it. I was very surprised to hear what she thought. “I don’t know what production edited but it’s a 24-hour process that you only see 3 hours of, so I’m sure it looked more dramatic than it was. For the most part, everyone loved Kevin. We were just unsure about him because we didn’t know what he did.” And when I specifically asked Christmas about the show making headlines because of comments houseguest Jason Dent made about Kevin’s wife.
Christmas seemed to think the public took it out of context. “Honestly I think people are taking very specific statements from a 92-day game and not understanding that this a game. We are in a house of paranoia, manipulation, and deceit. Do I agree with the comment? No? But I do understand you get heated in the moment and that we all say things behind closed doors that we would never say in the public eye.” She absolutely does not think it was meant or that it was bullying. Unfortunately, Kevin and his family feel totally different about the whole situation. Make sure to read the article about my interview with Kevin to get his POV.
We got into how the house is a pressure cooker of emotions and romantic emotions developed toward fellow houseguest, Paul Abrahamian. The live feeds picked up a moment when Christmas was alone in her room talking about her feelings for Paul. “When I leave here, my heart will either be healed or broken”. I asked her to clarify what she meant by that and how she is feeling about Paul now that they are outside the house. “The house definitely creates an alternate reality. As for Paul and myself, there was an intimate connection there. When you have someone in the house you can talk to, that is your ally and that you cuddle with a lot, it can gray some areas of feelings. But outside the house is a very different situation than inside the house.” So I guess that means no romance in the future for Paul and Christmas but she assured me they have remained friends. “I love Paul”.
Can we hashtag BB20ChristmasReturns? Christmas is chomping at the bit for another shot at the half-million dollar prize. She wants the opportunity to really compete and show her full potential. She had to take a whole other approach when she broke her foot and play a super social game but when she goes back, she is going to be a physical threat. “I want to go back in the game embracing my chaos. I want to play the game I wanted to play and knew that I could. The minute I walked out of the house, I was like put me back in there, I’m ready for Round 2.” You heard the girl, put her back in!
And for all you tattoo lovers, Christmas has some amazing tattoos and not only do they all have meaning behind them but they are all something that she is comfortable sporting right until her 90’s. She got her first tattoo at the ripe age of 15 (Yes, with her mother’s consent) and her signature tattoo is a huge pistol on her upper thigh but her favorite tattoos are ones that are hidden and not seen as much. Her tattoo persona is girly yet bad ass and she wanted to get tattoos representative of her and her personality. “I wanted to show you can be successful with beautiful ink. There is a balance between the two, hard and soft. It’s not what you get or where you get it, its why you get it.” I definitely think Christmas should be tattoo.com WCW because this girl does tattoos well. But her celebrity tattoo crush goes to none other than David Beckham. “What can I say, I like nice work on a nice body.” Well said Christmas, well said.
Make sure to check out some of Christmas’s ink and follow her shenanigans on Instagram (@christmasabbott). What a gorgeous and down to earth babe!! And we are so rooting for her to be on Big Brother 20!!! #BB20christmasreturns : )
