NASCAR and its fans have nicknamed Rockingham Motor Speedway in Rockingham, NC “The Rock”, but for 3 days in May 2019 it was the Epicenter of real Rock ‘n Roll (with a little Metal & Hip Hop mixed in),
Like most Spring time outdoor festivals in the U.S., no multiple day festivals are complete without Mother Nature being a bi-polar bitch. Sunday, the day that there was previously a 100% chance of rain and severe weather, turned out to be the best day, without any delays or cancellations. Friday was mostly care free, but Saturday she smacked the crap out of the venue, vendors (The Music Experience & Zippo were especially hard hit), and campers forcing the cancellation of several bands including Judas Priest and Saturday’s headliner – Tool.
Despite Mother Nature’s irregular and chaotic outbursts, Epicenter was one helluva great time and offered an incredible music and entertainment line-up from the Hellzapoppin Freak show to breaking and iconic bands from around the world.
Bands we saw and photographed included all of the bands in the following gallery (photo’s by either Wes “Rockwell” Anderson or Melissa “Mischievous Mel” Anderson:
We also talked to seven bands on camera (coming soon), including:
Tetrarch with #MischievousMel at Epicenter
#MischievousMel with Matty Mullins from Memphis May Fire at Epicenter
Hyro the Hero with #MischievousMel at Epicenter
Badflower with #MischievousMel
Ded with #MischievousMel at Epicenter
Amigo the Devil with #MischievousMel
