Tattoo.com and Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) proudly present Emerging Artist of the Week, Savages, an all-female Indie rock/punk band from London. Savages has been around since 2011, so in that sense, they have very much emerged. Our goal is to make bands like this known even more by highlighting their talent and bringing them into your view, whether it’s for the first time or not.
As far as bands that come along this day and age, Savages could easily be considered a diamond in the rough. Their music falls into the punk category but the band simply describes themselves as: “loud, quite loud”. Their latest album “Adore Life” was released on January 22, 2016. In April, they performed their single “Adore” from the album on the Ellen Show.
Lead vocalist/lyricist Jehnny Beth is a powerful, stunning performer who commands the stage with bold confidence and fearlessness. Her thick, dark, and rich vocal tone perfectly compliments the intense messages inside each lyrical masterpiece she sings. From the song “Adore”: I understand the urgency of life – In the distance there is truth which cuts like a knife – Maybe I will die tomorrow – So I need to say – I adore life – I adore life – Do you adore life?
