It was about two years ago that I had my first opportunity to interview the former ‘All Shall Perish‘ lead vocalist Eddie Hermida, who had recently taken the helm of Suicide Silence after the untimely passing of original lead singer Mitch Luck on October 31, 2012 in a solo motorcycle crash. At the time, Suicide Silence was touring in support of their first album with Eddie as their new lead singer (‘You Can’t Stop Me’). Stepping in as the new frontman in a well established band is fraught with perils, including criticism and critiques from super fans. Needless to say, there was a lot of pressure on Eddie and what I saw, first hand, was Eddie taking care of business. Suicide Silence was now his band.
Fast forward to Aftershock 2016 – where I had my second opportunity to not only see and hear Eddie fronting Suicide Silence, but to also chat with him. This time was much different from the first time only because Eddie has been on tour around the world the past two years with the band. Also, the bands second album with Eddie, the self titled ‘Suicide Silence’ (produced by Ross Robinson) is coming out in a couple months. What did Eddie have to say about recording the new album and his involvement? What can Suicide Silence fans expect? What about his ink (he gets half naked to show it all)?
