Watch Tattoo Collector Josh Fink get his latest piece from Josh Duffy at Timeline Gallery:
Tattoo.com caught up with Josh Fink, an avid tattoo collector from Las Vegas, Nevada, in Seal Beach, CA right before he made his way to San Pedro’s Timeline Gallery to have Josh Duffy tattoo his kneecap. Fink, who has art by likes of Paul Acker, Oly Anger, Jeremiah Barba, Freddy Negrete, Phil Garcia, Carl Grace, Rich Pineda, Aric Taylor all over his body, goes to great lengths to get the best work from the world’s best tattoo artists, something that requires lots of patience, effort, money, time, and travel.
For his most recent tattoo, Fink chose Josh Duffy, based out of Timeline Gallery (also home to tattoo heavy hitters Carlos Torres and Allan Padilla) in San Pedro, California. Duffy was born into the artist lifestyle; his entire family is comprised of accomplished artists in their respective mediums, which inspired Duffy throughout his childhood. His major artistic influence was his mother, who even had a painting aboard the 1994 Endeavor Space Shuttle. Early on, Duffy was taught the work ethic and drive in order to motivate him to be the best artist he can be; from tattooing, to painting, to music, Duffy lives and breathes art.
Josh Duffy primarily does black and grey work; it allows for him to visualize the dark expression and heavy imagery that is so prevalent in his work.
“Look outside and see the world around you, it’s shit...but there’s a lot of beauty in it too.”
Duffy’s signature style has met the demand of countless enthusiasts that identify with his emotive use of shading and bold saturation without the use of colors. A lot of Duffy’s inspiration is drawn from heavy metal music; bands like Opeth make a mark on his artistry and it shows. Having won many awards across the convention circuit and been featured in many illustrative publications, Duffy has emerged as an extremely well respected and humble tattoo artist, with a long and bright future ahead of him.
As Josh Fink schedules his next slew of tattoo appointments with Roman Abrego and Victor Portugal, to name a few, Josh Duffy also remains busy traveling all over the world, laying down some of the worlds finest and darkest, black and grey tattoo work.
