Hollywood-based alt-rock singer-songwriter AVATARI unveils his latest single, “P#RN,” which is “an exploration of desire, addiction, and the search for true connection in an increasingly disconnected world.”
While growing up, AVATARI was inspired by legendary frontmen like Elvis, Jagger, Prince, and Bowie, as well as modern artists like Imagine Dragons and Yungblud. Later, after descending into drug addiction, he emerged from the abyss like phoenix rising from the ashes, refined by the fire. Indeed, he uses the image of the phoenix as his logo.
AVATARI’s debut single, “Legacy,” captured the interest of Rolls-Royce, followed by licensing the song for their Ghost ad campaign. In 2023, he released “High Like This,” which led to Melody Maker Magazine calling him a “rising star” of rock. He followed with “Faith,” “Broke,” and “Holidaze.”
So far in 2024, AVATARI has released a flurry of dynamic singles, including “Power.” His most recent release “Fighter” is quickly winning over audiences with its raw power and identifiable story – it’s about his childhood experience of getting bullied on the playground and how it led to his journey of “self-mastery through martial arts.”
AVATARI’s lyrics serve as a mirror, reflecting the universal truths that bind us all together in hopes that we can all surrender the darkness in our hearts and come together, “even if we’re just rocking out for a fucking hour.”
Highlighted by his electrifying stage presence and magnetic personality, AVATARI’s live performances are a cathartic odyssey of music, storytelling, and honest emotion that leaves audiences exhilarated and transformed.
“P#RN” opens with a mélange of remote sounds and emerging harmonies rolling into a deliciously swaying rhythm driving by a thumping kick drum. Vaguely reminiscent of Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good” because of the biting wit of the lyrics and its unique harmonic flow, the song simultaneously diagnoses and summarizes contemporary society.
“Cuz I’ve been treating my depression with porn / Pouring gasoline on the day that I was born / And I’ve been feeding my addiction with more / Dreaming of the day that I could have it all.”
At once witty, cutting, and catchy, AVATARI’s “P#RN” is rife with zingers and clever wordplay, the evidence of tremendous talent.
