Young Guns fans… the wait is almost over. Get ready for the new album “Echoes” due for release August 16th via Wind-up Records. Our first experience with the band was at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California in September 2014. In 2015 this UK band hit stages worldwide, including several U.S. festivals (we interviewed them at Northern Invasion in Somerset, WI) and toured with bands such as Three Days Grace, Black Stone Cherry and Breaking Benjamin. On those tours and on the festival circuit, Young Guns proved with out any doubt that they were here to stay and are a force in the rock world. This year the guys are coming back to the States to do all 40 dates on the Warped Tour. They will be blowing up stages playing the hits that fans fell in love with and new music from “Echoes”. So what can you expect from the new album? Here is a preview of what you will hear.
“Echoes”, the forthcoming album from Young Guns was recorded with David Bendeth (Paramore, Bring Me The Horizon, Breaking Benjamin). With David Bendeth’s expertise and with Young Guns way of meshing energy fueled choruses and heart pounding riffs, I would describe the songs as sing along rock anthems backed with solid rock drumming. That is the best way I can describe the sound of one of the best new rock bands to take the stage the past few years.
“Bullet Proof”, the new single out now, is a song that not only has that true rock feel that you will happily pump your fist to, but also has emotive lyrics such as, “Out of time. Out of place. Hate the people we’ve become. In the cold we embraced. Tell me where did we go wrong?” If that is not something that everyone can relate to then I don’t know what is. That is what I mean by lyrics that are emotive – they have that “feel” – words that rock us as much as the music.
“Echoes”, the title track, is a bit harder. The song kicks in with a bit of keyboards, then adrenaline inducing drums come in along with thick and forceful chords. Then the soulful, rock and roll vocals come at your ears like an elephant through a brick wall. The result is in my opinion the best track on the album.
“Careful What You Wish For” is a cautionary reminder of what life can really throw at you. The chorus will have you hooked at first listen. The tale that is weaved in the lyrics of the song is honest, passionate, real, and in your face truth. “Careful what you wish for, there is no turning back there is no escape. Devils in the details…”
After hearing the songs off “Echoes” I can say that every song on the album is a hit and I believe Young Guns fans will be more than pleased. You will rock out, you will feel it, and you will play this album over and over. This will be a must have for Young Guns fans old and new. Now that you know what’s coming, get out to a Warped Tour near you to hear the band and experience the music.
