The Phoenix is a mythological bird which regenerates through burning up and being reborn from the ashes. The symbolism that can be used through the Phoenix is great. Going through some sort of hardship or turmoil (the flames) and being resilient enough to not only get through it but to grow and change from the experience (regeneration). The Phoenix has been used in many myths and legend, and modern fans of the Phoenix may be aware of the mythical bird through the Harry Potter series in which the amazing Dumbledore has a Phoenix named Fawkes who is a helpful resource throughout the books.
Since the Phoenix is a creature only of myth and legend, as far as we currently know, there is no one way to design the bird. This makes for a ton of really creative, beautiful, artistic, and fantastic tattoos of the bird. I’ve chosen to feature seven of my favorites found on the internet, but a quick search will reveal hundreds of really great Phoenix tattoos.
